1, 000 children can’t access the school

Rattanak Kiri Province: About a thousand of children in Ngang commune in Rattanak Kiri can not attend school. Mr. Phann Phirun, provincial youth and sport department director, said that in this new academic year 2007-2008, there were about 1,000 children could not be educated owing to the statistic. He added that because of a long distance, shortage of school, teachers, and equipment, those children can not gain the education. Among the eleven villages in Ngang commune, there is only one primary school that has 78 students studying in Grade 1 & 2. In Rattanak Kiri province, recently about 30% to 40% has dropped out from school.
