15 year-old Cambodian girl rescued from gang rape in Thailand

On January 24, 2011 at 1810 hrs three Cambodian men Mr. Pech Phat aged 19, Mr. Teng Chandara aged 24, and Mr. Hai Ai aged 19 were caught by Thai police in Trat province for alleged gang rape of a 15 year old girl and sent back to Cambodia on request of Cambodian police. The girl returned to her homeland in Chhouk district, Kampot province after the incident and filed the complaint with Kompot provincial police before informing APLE.
On January 18, 2012 APLE coordinated with president of social welfare and labor committee of the Thai senate to bring the victim and her family to provide complaint to the Thai authority for intervention.
The girl had worked as a waitress at a Thai restaurant since 2011 with the 4 alleged perpetrators who fled their job after raping the girl. She alleged that the 4 men trapped her into their home and raped her twice each. She felt unconscious, woken up and was raped again.
On January 25, 2011 Thai police transported the three men to Cambodian authority via Cham Year border to police custody in Kampot provincial, while the other alleged perpetrator was still at large.
According to police, the 3 men confessed to have raped and were later referred to the provincial court this morning for charges.
