20% of Cambodian Children under five years old, died due to sanitation matter

Phnom Penh: Each year, about 20% of children under five years old, died because of lacking sanitation. Mr. Yem Chhai Ly, Rural Development secretary, said about 10 millions of Cambodian have no access to sanitation. In 1998, only 9% could get access to hygiene which was badly low and increased to 16% in 2006, if compares to that of ASEAN countries. Owing to this problem, Rural Development Ministry has strongly determined that in 2015, 50% of people in rural areas will be able to use clean water including, lavatory construction.
