$20,000 Solution for Dey Krohorm People

$20,000 per family is the final number of money which 7NG decide to give people in Dey Krohorm community to move this squatter. However this solution is not successful yet. People still refuse it.
91 families reject to evacuate from this area while 1,374 family, 93%, of 1,465 Dey Krohorm families were accept to move to Borey Sotepeap II, located in Dom Nak Troyeng Village, Choam Chao Cmmune, Dong Kor District, Phnom Penh.
91 families said that they will not leave if 7NG do not give the proper price for their moving.
As reply, 7NG, company which respond to develop Dey Krohorm area, reach to the decision on January 12, 2009 to provide $20,000 to Dey Krohorm peope for movement.
Discussion on roundtable on topic “Development of Red land area and solutions” on January 13, 2009 organized by Club of Cambodia Journalists, Excellency Man Chheoun, deputy of municipality, said, “$20,000 is the solution which 7NG provide to 91 families who need not flat”.
“Providing this a mount of money is a good strategy to reach the nonviolent solution,” said Man Chheoun. “Municipal officials are waiting the decision of Dey Krohorm people after calling the representative of them on Monday evening, January 12”.
Mr. Srey Chantou, director of management of 7NG said, “$20,000 is a final solution the 7NG can do”. “7NG stands on the nonviolent solution, I hope those people will accept these amounts of money,” he said.
In the discussion, Excellency Man Chheoun told the participators and journalists that “Municipality has followed 3 policies for solution to 91 families moving”.
First policy toward the families that accept taking flat at Borey Sotepeap II, the company provides a flat size 4 x 12 meter with sponsored money of 777,700 riel, 30 kilogram of rice, a case of Noodle, a dozen of fish sauce and soy sauce, and a 60 liter basin.
Second policy, company changes from $15,000 to $20,000 (for short period) to people refuse taking flat at Borey Sotepeap II. Moreover, those people will receive sponsored money of 777,700 riel with 30 kilogram of rice, a case of Noodle, a dozen of fish sauce and soy sauce, and a 60 liter basin.
Final policy is the work on charity and administrative society of 7NG. Company has already prepared 700 million riel, loaded money, for those people to do business. 7NG has cooperated with the authorities to do possession license to people when all Dey Krohorm people already more there.
Presently, municipality has cooperated with 7NG to build the course building with 2 floors and 12 rooms which located in Trapang Sala Primary school. Company gives the chance to the people to sell in the new location. Beside this, company makes the bus line, consist of 5 buses, to bring people in there area to Derm Kor market to be comfortable for traveling.
