44 Communes in Takeo Unable to Plant Rice

Takeo Province: The 44 communes of 100 in Takeo province have been threatened by drought, said Takeo province Agricultural Department Chief Oet Sarun on Saturday. Rice is dying and in Bati, Somraong and Tramkork district are covered by rice fields, but there is no water whatsoever to plant rice, he complained. Added that so far 100 000 hectares of rice fields have been planted in Takeo province. It is equal 61 percent for this year, and 92 percent of 2007.
