A 14-Year-Old Boy sentenced 4 Years in Prison

Phnom Penh: Phnom Penh Municipal Court in the morning of July 26, 2007 sentenced a 14-year-old boy 4 years in jail for raping attempt. The prisoner, Phal Samrech, lives in Toul Sampov village, Dang Kor district’s Kok Roka commune, Phnom Penh City. It is the first time that the culprit is the minor.
The 5-year-old victim’s parents, who accused him of successful raping their daughter, filed a complaint with police, and then he was detained by Dang Kor Police on April 21, 2007. Lasting three months until the hearing day, Phal Samrech was sentenced.
Phal Samrech said that he and the victim was cousin and he added that he had not done such a kind of serious thing like the accusing.
