A Pagoda Boy steals Buddhist Statues

Kampongchhnang Province: A pagoda boy, who just stayed the pagoda for 10 days, was arrested by Kampongchhnang police force on 1 Aug 2008 after he had stolen some Buddhist statues from Tepthy Taram pagoda in Kampongchhnang district’s Phsar Chhnang commune, said kampongchhnang police officer. “The statues cost thousand dollars,” said Kampongchhnang deputy police Hun Veasna. The 16-year-old boy confessed that he stole the statues, attempting to sell for money, but he was apprehended when asked permission from the monk to leave the pagoda in order to sell the stolen properties.
