Phnom Penh: Kevin Patrick Smith (born 1970) is an American screenwriter, film producer, and director, as well as a comic book writer, author, comedian, and actor. His films are often set in his home state of New Jersey, and while not strictly sequential, they do frequently feature crossover plot elements, character references, and a shared canon. CLERKS (1994, 88mins) marks the start of his career. The witty comedy presents a day in the lives of two store clerks and their acquaintances. Kevin Smith is also known for participating in long, humorous Q&A sessions that are often filmed for DVD release. Following CLERKS we are screening “Sold Out: A Threevening with Kevin Smith” Footage for the release was shot at a Q&A performance on August 2, 2007 (Smith's 37th birthday) in front of a sold-out crowd at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, New Jersey. This will be on Saturday this week.
