Appeal Court Detains Journalist

Phnom Penh: The Phnom Penh appeal court on Tuesday morning decided to continue to detain Horng Chakra, the editor in chief of Khmer Machas Sruk newspaper. Horng Chakra was accused of disinformation after he had published his two articles in his newspaper on 5-7 April and 2 May 2009. In the appeal court, the accused said sorry for his two articles and asked that the appeal court quit the accusation. But it was denied. Horng Chakra was sentenced one year in prison and was demanded that he pays about 2250 $.
