ART EXHIBIT OPENING: CHHIM SOTHY’S “BEYOND THE ABSTRACT”

Phnom Penh: Cambodian painter Chhim Sothy is one of country’s hardest working artists. Numerous exhibitions in his home country and abroad have proven his unique ability to easily switch from traditional to contemporary motifs, without losing his personal style. Sothy’s newest works, which will be exhibited in the last month of the old Meta House, deal with his dreamlike visions from the past and the present. The artist states that his own development also reflects the changing Cambodian society, slowly adjusting itself to modernity, but trying to preserve its heritage.
