Phnom Penh: That why, they are surely susceptible to any bad effects of the powerful people in the whole society. Therefore, they work for the prominent individuals or even political parties, pretending or ignoring their role to work for all kinds of people. Besides, some journalists have used his or her position in the wrong ways. They force someone to pay them money and some even accept the bribes from the rich or powerful people in returning of not writing their scandals or corruptions. To put it mildly, few of them, foreign radios and English language newspapers, are not influenced by the Cambodian government or the ruling party.
Media is the oxygen for democracy. Media is a mean conveying both positive and negative news through newspapers, magazines, radios and TVs. On the other hand, democratic systems could not exist well if there is no good media that is viewed as a cornerstone of a democratic country. Without media or free press democracy can not work very well. Nowadays, Cambodia opens free press for every one. Meanwhile, prison gates also open and wait for them; in the case that they express their opinions and criticize their government.
All in all, Cambodia still has a young and week media although there are hundreds of media institutions registered at the ministry of information and require a strong one in the future. A number of journalists fulfill their present job unprofessionally even though they already know those actions should not have happened in media environment in Cambodia.
