Cambodia celebrates its partnerships in mine action at the Phnom Penh Royal Railway Station

Phnom Penh, 28 November 2011. The exhibition entitled “Landmine in Cambodia: 20 years of Achievements,” organized at the Phnom Penh Royal Railway Station from 28th November to 2nd December, will showcase Cambodia’s collective experience in mine action over the past two decades. The exhibition features displays from a large range of mine action, victim assistance and humanitarian sectors. The exhibit aims at informing the public how these vibrant partnerships contribute to enhanced and efficient mine action performance. A variety of demining machines, mine detection dogs, clearance equipment and material will be on display, as well as exhibits from partner organizations.
This exhibition is a side event of the Eleventh Meeting of the State Parties to the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention (11MSP) hosted by the Royal Government of Cambodia from 27th November to 2nd December 2011 in Phnom Penh. It will be the largest international meeting ever held in the Kingdom of Cambodia with more than 1,000 planned participants from Governments, international organizations and civil society.
The 28th of November will mark the exhibition opening ceremony, with delegates attending from all over the world. The program, which will take place at the Royal Railway Station from 5:00PM-9:00PM, will include special performances by traditional Khmer dancers from victim assistance groups, as well as demonstrations and activities from various mine action partners from around Cambodia.
The exhibition organized by the Cambodian Mine Action Centre, Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority with contribution from more than twenty partner-organizations (national and international operators and NGOs, development partners, private sector organizations, etc.) aims at informing the public of the achievements and vital importance of mine action in Cambodia.
