Cambodian government bans the act of sending Khmer workers to work in Southern Thailand
Ministry of Foreign Affair and International Cooperation made a proposal to Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training to prevent Khmer workers from going to work in southern Thailand.
With reference to the letter from Ministry of Foreign Affair and International Cooperation that has sent to Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training on 19 March 2007, the reasons of banning Khmer workers to work in southern Thailand is that the country’s security recently is instable and that many people have been killed.
Regarding to these reasons, under-secretary of state for Ministry of Labour Oum Mean stated that he has informed all the related companies to cease sending Khmer workers to work in Thailand. However, On Bun Hak the manager of the company that involves sending Khmer workers to Thailand said that he hadn’t received the official letter. He continued that the ban would not cause any negative influences on his business.
