Co-prosecutors to Announce Duch’s Hearing Result Later

After two-day hearing of Kang Gich Eav alias Duch on 20 and 21 November, 07 co-prosecutors of the hearing announced that the decision would come out later. The hearing was opened after lawyers of Duch had appealed complaint of illegal pre-trial detention of Duch for over 8 years in military prison. The participants joint in about 500-loaded hall were less than the first day. They were from civil social organizations, media institutions and also public people from provinces.
Mr. Chan Ke, 52, from Prey Veng province said that he wanted Duch to be detained because if he was out side, he could be killed by some revenged people. He claimed that after the hearing was processing for two days, Duch’s lawyers intended his client out and co-prosecutors want him in detention. Reach Sambath, spokesman of the ECCC, said that the hearing was just a first try not conviction.
