Event: Colombia-Cambodia Third Country Training Phase II Strengthening the Presidential Program for Comprehensive Action against Antipersonnel Mines (PAICMA) of Colombia

Location: CMAC Headquarter in Phnom-Penh and other various mine action services in Siem Reap, Battambang and Kampong Chhnang provinces of Cambodia

Details:
Through a cooperative effort between CMAC and the Japan International Cooperation
Agency (JICA), CMAC is conducting the second phase of the Colombia-Cambodia Third
Country Training program following a very successful first phase in June earlier this year.
On 09 October 2010, 16 delegates from Colombia's "Programa Presidencial para la Acción
contra Minas Antipersonal" ("PAICMA"_ translated as "the Presidential Program for
Comprehensive Action against Antipersonnel Mines") will be arriving in Cambodia for a
comprehensive two week training course in de-mining operations (from 09 to 23 October
2010).
The training course will be provided by CMAC staff and key note speakers from other mine
action institutions and it covers four key aspects of mine action in the context of Cambodia
including:
1. Mine Action Policy and Management
2. Integrated Mine Action Approach
3. Survey and Clearance Management
4. Information and Database Management
During the period of the training, there will be four media opportunities:
• 11 October The Opening Ceremony
• 15 October Media Session on in-class training activities and interviews
with CMAC experts and delegates
Focus: Survey and Land Release and Mine Risk Accidents
Case studies
• 16 to 20 October Field trips including the CMAC demining operation sites
• 22 October The Closing Ceremony
