Controversy when Angkor not be chosen
Wednesday, May 30, 2007
Phnom Penh: Many people were disappointed and frustrated when Angkor Wat was not the first choice to be selected in the new 7 wonders vote.
Ho Vandy, director of tourist agent in Cambodia said on 29 May that he had asked the Apsara Authority not to put Angkor Wat candidacy since the beginning of the vote. The vote is not fair. First, Cambodian population is less. Second, the knowledge of Computer Science in Cambodia is limited. Third, not many Cambodian people know how to vote on the Internet. Hem Chhem, deputy Minister of Culture and Fine Art supported Ho Vandy's idea. He added that we cannot compare Angkor Wat with Effel Tower or Liberty statue.
