Delegates of CNCW Met with Members at Capital Level

Phnom Penh: Deputy Governor Mrs. TOUCH Sarom and members of Cambodian National Council for Women, CNCW, at Capital level from various institutions met with delegates of CNCW, led by Lork Chum Teav Dr. UNG Kunthaphavy, Minister of Women Affairs Ministry and also chairman of CNCW at Phnom Penh Capital Hall level, on 22nd December 2011.
The dialogue was focused on the consultations and possibilities to give supports to Capital level in order to enhance gender equity, encourage women and to pay more attention on them, aiming to seek challenges, weak and strong points they are facing at local levels so as to compile a report, establish an appropriate facilitation mechanism and give recommendations to the Royal Government of Cambodia concerning the promotion of status, roles and social welfare of Cambodian women for the purpose of elimination of all forms of women discrimination and domestic violence against women.
Indeed, the Royal Government of Cambodia, under acknowledge-able leadership of Samdech Prime Minister HUN Sen, has paid attention on gender equity supports and women encouragement as specifically mentioned in the Rectangular Strategy of the Royal Government of Cambodia and National Development Strategy. Furthermore, Decentralization and De-concentration, D&D, Reform Program is also laid down gender mainstreaming strategy as stated in D&D Strategic Framework, Organic Law and National Committee for Sub-national Democratic Development, NCDD. The First Three-Year Implementation Plan of National Program (2011-2013) is also included roles and responsibilities to enhance gender equity and women encouragement to be the tasks of all sub-programs and all levels of sub-national administrations; Whereas, Ministry and Department of Women Affairs will serve as technical support mechanism of implementation and follow-up works.
