Phnom Penh: Recently, Khmer historians have different visions over the statue of King Jay Voraman VII which was partly destroyed. According to Mr. Chuch Peoun, a secretary of state of fine art ministry, the destruction was probably caused by King Jay Voraman VIII who followed Hinduism. Since King Jay Voraman VII was a Buddhist follower, Jay Vorman VIII might have ordered to destroy anything that related to Buddhism. In contrast, PhD, Ros Chantrea Buth, has said that there is no evidence or document showing that Jay Voraman VIII was the destroyer. However, he added the destruction could be caused by four factors. First is because of religion war, second is during Thai attack in Cambodia, third is due to the natural disaster, and the last is because of local war.
