Domestic Violence, Woman Commits Suicide

Phnom Penh: A 33-year-old woman attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the water from Chrov Changva Bridge at around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Fortunately, the bridge guards intervened on time. The woman known as Veth is a garment worker at PCCS factory. At the police station, she recounted that her husband, who is a soldier, always badgers her whenever he got drunk. On Monday night her husband hit her. Next morning, at 4 a.m. she cycled to the bridge in order to commit suicide but her drunken husband followed her and taking her back home. At the same day when he was not home she rode the bicycle to the bridge again. Police educated the spouse and let them go home.
