Drunk Man Angry with Wife Scolds Openly, Beats Wife till Dead

Battambang province: A wild violence happened in a poor family that drunken husband beat his wife with bamboo trunk on the neck after the wife blamed him openly as he was drinking. The wife died on the way to hospital. After hitting the wife, the assailant escaped by leaving 6 sons and daughters. The scene occurred at 6:30p.m on 26-March-07 in Steng Chork village, Prey Touch commune, Mourng Reosey district, Battambang.
Mr. Suong Yam, administrative police of Prey Touch commune informed that the violence caused by the husband named Thou Mat, 44, that he beat his wife An Neoun, 44, in her neck till unconscious. The victim-wife was immediately sent to hospital but because of critical injury, she was dead on half way to the hospital.
According to witness that saw the scene, they said that the husband-Thou Mat was always drinking every day. When he got drunk, he was always blamed by his wife but he did not listen.
Mr. Suong Yam added that his force and district's punishment force are investigating to seize the assailant.
