Former Supreme Monk and Two Men Sent to Jail

Phnom Penh: A former supreme monk of Kouk Khsach pagoda, along with two other pagoda boys, was sent and detained in Prey Sor prison on Monday afternoon by Dangkor district police. 32-year-old Lung Sophat, who was defrocked on Saturday morning, and his two confederates Doung Nub, 18, and Lung Thea, 20, were charged with destroying property. According to the complaint, former monk Lung Sophat ordered the two to burn a car of a villager, known as Morm Sochey, 37, living near the pagoda. Lung Sophat loves a 23-year-old daughter of Morm Sochey and he always visited her very night. Morn Sochey blamed him of this. Therefore, he and the two burned his car on June 21.
