Intelligence and Struggle Hout Sarin is a Successful Painter

Hout Sarin has been known as a famous painter since the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC) came to compose election in Cambodia in 1993. Under the roof of the flat, he used a soften paint toll scratched up and down slowly on a white blank paper that he mounted on the wall.
Careless with other things from the early morning until lunch time he concentrated on his painting. This middle age man, nowadays, lives along a small track at Phsar Deumkor (Kapok Tree Market) in Phnom Penh.
His eyes look carefully to the picture; he said that his mother who is a merchant wanted him to become a merchant, too. But Hout Sarin told to her: “please let me do what I want mother because this is my desire when I was born”. Since then after he had no class; he made a good use of time to observe the other artists’ achievement.
He never wastes the times. He always went to take lessons from a painting shop called Heang Meas where it was a famous one at that time. Study there he tried to observe all techniques. He observes the way to hand the paint tools, how to paint color, and the way to decorate artistically. Because he was young, he did not have a good opportunity to show his painting.
Five years a go he drown Angkor Wat temple that is the first of his achievement. At states school his classmates asked him to draw pictures. And he began to earn a small amount of money. Because he could paint, his girl classmates liked him a lot. “I save money to buy my study tools. I do not ask money from my mother,” he said.
Fortunately in 1989 he got married a beautiful lady following his parents’ choice. With hopeful and loving painting, he was hired to draw the pictures of the profile of Buddha at Butom Vatey pagoda that is near the royal palace.
Through his achievement in the painting, nowadays, he can make enough money and live with happiness with his five and two sons. “I am saving money to buy a lots-land for my children,” he said.
He can paint to please his audiences. And for the photo that his clients want him to draw its side is 100 centimeters height and 200 centimeters weight. For this side he spends nearly a week and its cost is 50 dollars.
In the future he hopes to develop and shear his experiences to other people especially his sons. But this well-known painting said: “I am very sorry that my sons they are not good at painting, and for the other people are also the same my sons.” Hout Sarin thinks that this job is not so easy to study. And it is a good work because it can help us to be a self-collected.
