Monday, March 01, 2010
Phnom Penh: There will be a documentary show on Wednesday at seven pm this week. John Pilger is an award-winning investigative journalist and documentary filmmaker. “THE WAR ON DEMOCRACY” (2006, 96 mins) is set in Latin America and the USA, it explores the historic and current relationship of Washington with countries such as Venezuela. This screening is followed by the award-winning doc “THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED” (2002, 74 mins). Irish filmmakers Bartley/O’Briain focus on Hugo Chavez, president of Venezuela, and the U.S. supported coup that briefly took him from power. Chavez is beloved by his nation's working class and a tough-as-nails, quixotic opponent to the power structure that would see him deposed.
