Khieu Samphan sent to the Khmer Rouge court

Phnom Penh: Khieu Samphan, former one of the leaders of Khmer Rouge era was sent to the court on 19 November 2007 acuused of involved in the death of at least 1,7 million of Cambodian people during 1975 and 1979. The arrest of Khieu Samphan, 76 was made due to the warrant from the co-investigating judges, said Reach Sambath, the ECCC spokeman. He added that Khieu Samphan is being asked by the co-investigating judges with the participation of his two attorneys. Khieu Samphan is charged of genocide, crime against humanity and war crime, said people familiar with the matter.
