Phnom Penh: The judges of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) plan to sentence Kaing Guek Eav, alias Duch, the Chairman of the S-21 Security Office, known as Tuol Sleng Prison, after the 7th January. The Khmer Rouge Tribunal spokesman Reach Sambath said on phone on Monday that the date of the sentence will be announced after the ECCC’s judges hold a meeting on 15-16 January. Kar Savuth, Duch’s lawyer, had refused to commend on his client sentence. Kaing Guek Eav is one of the five top Khmer Rouge leaders who have been detained.
