Phnom Penh: ActionAid is conducting a Media Workshop on Monday 14 December, 2009. The aim in conducting this workshop is to raise the awareness on the issue of Natural Disaster among Journalists and to deepen their understanding toward the issue. So these are the main themes.
The workshop will start on December 14, at ActionAid Phnom Penh office. We will have experience sharing and discussion about Natural Disaster, and sth more which are not yet set in the agenda.
Then, on December 15, participants will travel to Svay Rieng province to do like field trip to our targeted villages.
We also have a Photo Exhibition relate to drought in Svay Rieng
You will also travel to other provinces like Kratie or Banteay Meanchey or somewhere else with our partners (this is not yet finalized).
ActionAid will only pay for your food, accommodation, and travel.
Journalists will write and publish one story about this. Whatever angles are welcomed. You don't need to mention ActionAid.
Students will write case study about related topic, let's say bad/good impact of drought, so on and so forth.
Let's me raise the example of Kimoan. She was there to write case study. She wrote a profile of a young man who was forced by drought to work in Vietnam. His work was to spray the chemical fertilizer. At the end of the day, he become disable cos of the fertilizer.
We will invite 15 students and journalists. It means that half of them will be from DMC.
