Phnom Penh: Two Buddhist monks were defrocked after they had disguised themselves as normal people to drink beer in Prek Liep primary school at 8 p.m. on Dec 13. The two novices known as Chun Buntheourn, 25, and Chheng Channy, 18, stayed at Prek Liep pagoda, located in Russeykeo district’s Prek Liep commune, local police said. One of the locals said he accidentally saw them drinking beer with another person. Then, the eyewitness stopped them and reported to the local authorities to intervene. This is the second defrocks for Chun Buntheourn. He used to hunt villagers’ chickens to eat. The defrocked monks confessed that they drank beer like the accusation.
