NEC to spend $17 millions for national election

Phnom Penh: Tep Nitha, secretary-general of National Election Committee (NEC) said in an interview on Apsara TV that the national election will cost about $17 million and the amount of money has already been proposed to the governent of Cambodia. NEC is preparing for the National Election on 27 July 2008, He added. With the $17 million budget project, the 2008 National Election costs more than any previous elections except for 1998 National Election. The increase of budget project results from the extension of vote registration and vote list checking. The wage for National Election personnel is increased, and the personnels themselves are added as well.
