New Rulers Of The World: Suffering From Privatisation
Wednesday, February 10, 2010
Phnom Penh: the myths of globalization have been incorporated into much of our everyday language. "Thinking globally" and "the global economy" are part of a jargon that assumes we are all part of one big global village. But what is globalization? The Cambodian MESSENGER BAND has produced a music video “Suffering from Privatization”. This presentation is followed by John Pilger’s doc film “THE NEW RULERS OF THE WORLD” (2001, 53mins), which explores the impact of globalization. He used Indonesia as a prime example, a country that the World Bank described as a 'model pupil' until its economy collapsed in 1998. The play is tonight (10-02-10) at Seven pm.
