Opposition Newspaper’s Editor-in-chief Arrested

June 8, 08: Editor-in-chief of opposition newspaper Monaksekar Khmer Mr. Dum Sith was arrested in charge of publishing false information. The court issued an arrest warrant and apprehended him after he reported a speech of Mr. Sam Rainsy who has said that minister of Foreign Affair was a former Khmer Rouge in Boeng Trabek prison. Head of Human Rights civil organization Licado Ms. Pong Cheiv Gek claimed that it was the bad sign of both rights abuse and threatening before the near upcoming parliamentary election. Mr. Sam Rainsy said that it was a political condemnation and out of court obligation.
