Siem Reap Province: Recently, the pork from Thailand is imported vastly to Siem Reap market. The officers said that this illegal business widespread because the product office and agricultural department authorities in Siem Reap allow them to import. Local pork sellers said that since Thai’s pork is much cheaper than that of Cambodia, some prefer to buy that from Thailand to gain more benefit. Actually, a kilo of Khmer pork cost from 18,000 riel to 19,000 riel, whereas the price of Thai’s pork is between 10,000 and 12,000riel only. Public demands for the strict policy for banning Thai’s pork import in Cambodia especially Siem Reap province. Yet nothing comment from the involved authority.
