Punk Is Dead: Sonic Memories of The Legendary “Ramones”
Monday, March 01, 2010
Phnom Penh: In the early 1970's, the music industry rang eerily familiar in its method of promoting trends over music. The public was being spoon-fed music that corporations simply intended to make a profit from. The backlash to this came to be known internationally as “Punk Rock”. Michael Gramaglia and Jim Fields' brilliant film “END OF THE CENTURY” (2005, 110mins) tells the story of US punk band “Ramones” – a story about friendship, originality, professionalism and success. Scooping last minute interviews with Joey and Dee Dee Ramone before their respective deaths in 2001 and 2002, it's likely to stand as the definitive testament to the band's lasting impact. This is on Saturday at Meta House at 7 PM.
