Road Safety In Cambodia: New Battambang Exhibition Opening
Monday, August 15, 2011
Phnom Penh: Road safety is a critical issue in Cambodia. The number of crashes, fatalities and disabilities is alarming. Over the last five years, the number of crashes increased by 217% and the number of fatalities almost doubled. CHO (khmer: walk or go) is the title of a group show with a social cause, feat. new works by Hiek Villa, Chhon Ravy, Reoum Sokhom and Vin Sinat from the “Trotchaek Pneik” (khmer: Cold Eyes) collective, as well as senior Battambang artist/animator Poy Chhunly. All of them were trained at the grass roots art school Phare Ponleu Selapak. At 8PM we screen short docs and advocacy films about road safety campaigns. Questions and answers are available with the artists and NGO representatives. The exhibition is on Friday at 6 pm at Meta House.
