Seventy Villagers Protest at Siem Reap Court

Approximately 70 villagers from Kork Run village, Sorsa Sdom commune came to protest in front of Siem Reap province court for detaining their representatives in the afternoon August 9, 2007 after the court had issued the warrant to call for and detaining them. The two village representatives had faced to demand for village’s five-hectare land. People shouted for justice out side the court fence that were bared by police not allowed to get into the court. They said that village and commune heads have sold the village land. A court official said on condition of anonymity that the land was offered to them due to their achievement in leading the village.
