Sok Sam Oeun and Born Samnang’ s Appeal Held late December

Phnom Penh: The Phnom Penh Supreme Court will hold the appeal hearing on 31 December of Sok Sam Oeun and Born Samnang, who were accused of assassinating the union leader Chea Vichea on 22nd Jan 2004 near Lanka pagoda in Phnom Penh. The two were arrested by police six days after Chea Vicher’s killing and Phnom Penh Municipality court sentenced each of them to 20 years in prison in August 2005. Chea Mony, free trade union president, and the younger brother of Chea Vichea said repeatedly that Sok Sam Oeun and Born Samnang are not the real killers of his brother. The former Phnom Penh police chief Heng Pov also confirmed that the two were not the murderers of Chea Vichea, he added.
