Update on Media Guidelines for Trial Chamber
Initial Hearing for Kaing Guek Eav alias Duch
17 February 2009
We wish to communicate several minor changes and updates to the Media Guidelines sent out last week.
1) Each of the Parties (Co-Prosecutors, Defence and Civil Parties) have been invited to give Press Comments of no more than 10 minutes each in duration. This session will commence 30 minutes after the close of the Trial Chamber hearing on 17 February. Due to time constraints, there will be no opportunity for questions at the end of each statement. However, members of the media are free to make their own interview arrangements with the Parties.
2) The Trial Chamber has ruled that it will permit only the three stills photographers into the photo opportunity prior to the commencement of the session on 17 February. We regret to inform you that video photographers will not be permitted during the photo opportunity as previously announced.
3) A live broadcast (television and radio) will be permitted for the first part of the agenda in the opening session (estimated one hour).
4) Thereafter video and audio will be sent to the press rooms, but may not be recorded. DVDs of all the public sessions will be provided as soon as any necessary redaction is carried out in accordance with orders from the Trial Chamber.
We welcome over 300 local and foreign media representatives coming to the ECCC tomorrow. Rest assured that we will do our utmost to facilitate your work
