Verdict Continues to Detain Duch-Head of S-21

December 3, 07: The judges’ head of ECCC Prak Kimsan announced the verdict to continue to detain Kaing Guek Eav alias Duch for the upcoming 2008 conviction. The announcement was conducted in front of the person to be excused and his pro-judge which was carefully observed by participants.
Prak Kimsan claimed that according to research of Cambodian Document Center, among the key witnesses and official representative from Takeo province showed fearful reasons of vengeance to people who will be excused. The detention was to assure the presence and safety of the person to be excused. The spokesman of the ECCC said that the detention of Duch was the co-decision of ECCC’s judges that considered the investigation of co-investigative judges is right.
