Waste may cause Tonle Sap River’s Fish died

Tons of fish had been killed at 11pm on Tuesday in Tonle Sap River and this maybe because of the waste from the factory near here, villagers and officials said.
Many wastes floated from a factory into the river was suspected of killing fish in Tonle Sap in a Phnom Penh fishing community Tuesday evening, an official said Wednesday.
After hearing warning that the Tonle Sap River was polluted, the community of floating homes in Russei Keo district’s Chraing Chamreh II commune moved their anchor to another at about 8 o’clock Tuesday in the evening, villagers said. According to a fisherman said that after moving houses he saw many fishes floated to the surface.
In this case villagers and officials claimed that hundreds of fishes died at 11 o’clock at night. Cheap Sivorn, chief of the Phnom Penh Municipal Environment Department added that the Societe Khmer des Distilleries factory on National Road 5 perhaps involved to the fish kill.
