Wife Asks Divorcing, Man Decides Jump down Tree

Kandal: A man committed suicide by jumping from a 7 meters-tree and died immediately. Because the victim’s wife asked him to divorce, so the victim got angry so much and decided to kill himself by jumping from the high tree.
This issue occurred at 15:10 pm on 20-March-2007 in Phrah Prosabtmey pagoda Phrah Prosabtmey village, Phrah Prosabtmey commune, Khsach Kandal district and Kandal province.
Living in Phrah Prosabtmey village, the victim name Mat Ton, 43. He is a farmer. The victim always fell out with his wife because the victim was good at gambling and went home late all the time, according to the eyes witness said.
The witness added that on 17-March-2007 the victim didn’t get on with his wife. Because of his playing card, his wife asked for divorcing. And the victim answered “don’t worry, about few days later I will go and go forever”.
The same witness added that on 21-March-2007 at 8:00 o’clock in the morning the victim had jointed political party propaganda for next commune election. And when he backed from the party propaganda he drunk so much alcohol and entered Phrah Prosabtmey pagoda after that he climbed on the Buddha tree and he jumped down at 7 meters high.
In this case the police said the victim really died by jumping from the tree and sent the corpse of victim to his family to celebrate funeral following Khmer traditional.
