World Press Freedom Day

Phnom Penh: On 3rd May 2010, World Press Freedom Day will be celebrated around the world. On Tuesday, 4th May, UNESCO and the OHCHR support a day-long forum to discuss the theme of this year’s World Press Freedom Day: “The Right to Know”.
You are cordially invited to cover this event, during which panel discussions will be held on a range of topics related to freedom of information and freedom of the press. Speakers, including representatives from government Ministries and media associations and institutions, will contribute to the debate. This forum is being organized by UNESCO and OHCHR, in cooperation with the Ministry of Information, the Press Council of Cambodia, the Club of Cambodian Journalists, the Cambodian Centre for Independent Media, and the Department of Media and Communications.
There will be a closed session afterwards for participating journalists only, to discuss Freedom of Information, and ethical codes for journalists.
His Excellency Nou Sovathero, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Information, will deliver a keynote speech opening the Forum.
